My friend Vanessa came to me with 14 loose diamonds given to her by her husband David's grandmother, and no preconceptions about what to do with them. Their 10th anniversary was coming up, so I suggested an anniversary band using ten of the stones. The diagonally-placed square form in the this white gold band is loosely based on the setting of the solitaire in her wedding ring, and the oval forms flow naturally from those lines and break up the sharp visuals of the square forms. The two distinct lines that overlap each other as they traverse the circumference of the ring represent the intertwining of the David's and Vanessa's lives as they grew together during the first ten years of their relationship, each represented by a sparkling diamond.
