Not quite a year after a friend of mine commissioned an alexandrite solitaire with which to propose to his girlfriend (she said yes!), he came back with nine adorable little alexandrites to make a matching wedding band. Alexandrite is an amazing stone, because it can look blue-green by daylight or fluorescent light and purple or red by candlelight or incandescent light. We went with a classic open-side pavé setting to allow lots of light through the stones, to really make them light up on his bride's hand.
