Etz Hayim Chai

November 2003
Sterling silver

Following the success of the Etz Hayim Star, this piece was made for a the second annual charity auction held by my synagogue, Congregation Etz Hayim in Arlington, VA. עץ חיים (Etz Hayim) means "Tree of Life," and the middle two letters spell חי (chai), or "life." Frequently seen on pendants, here the חי is enhanced to incorporate the full name of the synagogue.

As to how it did in the auction, well... my friend Laura saw it when the lot was submitted, and nobody else stood a chance of placing the winning bid after that.
