Hawaiiana Gallery

Growing up in Hawai‘i, one cannot help but be influenced by its natural beauty and unique culture. There is a nearly limitless amount of art inspired by the location, but too often it is geared toward the tourist trade and either sacrifices faithfulness or aesthetics in favor of mass appeal. While certain thematic elements can't be avoided—almost all local jewelers have plumeria-based designs, for example—the treatment thereof varies widely. I endeavor both to be respectful to tradition while creating art with a modern and yet timeless sensibility.
