A couple came to me for kosher wedding bands. They already had beautiful 18 karat rings lined with diamonds and brocade and lacquered with blue enamel, but when they were first united same-sex marriage was not permitted in the District of Columbia or in the Conservative movement of Judaism. Sixteen years later, both of those restrictions had been lifted so they asked me to make kosher rings to use in their Jewish ceremony. I didn't want their rings to compete with the ones they already had, so we went with simple 2mm wide stacking bands that they could wear with their existing rings.
