I had this little 5mm opal, and decided to present it simply but in a way that brought out its beauty. I wanted rose gold to be in there to pick up the pink highlights of the stone, but at the same time didn't want to overwhelm the opal. I set it in a simple platinum bezel, since the relative cold white of that metal would be a perfect foil to and barrier between the two pinks of the piece. Holes are drilled into the bezel to accomodate the delicate chain, for a lavalier look that stays centered even as the chain jogs about.
