Rune Star

2003
Sterling silver

My first ever experiment with the techniques of chasing and repousse, this simple Star of David has a concave ש (shin) chased into its convex form. When pictured alone, the shin is a short form of the word שדי (Shaddai, "the Almighty"), one of the names of God. The result reminded me of Celtic rune stones, hence the name of the piece.
