Soapstone, plaster

One of my first larger-scale stone sculptures, this piece was an excercise in continuity of form. My first sculpture teacher in college wanted the class to understand how to continue a design not only around an object, but also through different media. The grooves and ridges carved in the black soapstone connect around the entire piece, as well as continuing into the plaster base.
